Construction on the Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences tower in downtown Miami has reached the 75th floor of its structure, closing in on its final height of 1,049 feet (about 320 meters) across 100 stories. Once complete, it will become the first supertall building in the state of Florida and the tallest in the southeastern United States, surpassing other recent residential towers in the city.
The project, developed by PMG with conceptual design by Sieger Suarez Architects and Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott, is distinguished by a facade made up of nine offset volumes, or “cubes,” wrapped in what the designers describe as a “skin of glass.” This formal language, inspired by space exploration and the fractured forms of sculptor Alberto Giacometti, aims to break from the conventional uniform-floorplate residential tower typology, offering floor-to-ceiling windows with views over downtown Miami, Miami Beach, and the Atlantic Ocean.
The tower will include 360 residences ranging from one to four bedrooms, with prices starting at $3.3 million for two-bedroom units, and is expected to be completed in 2028. The project has become a symbol of Miami’s luxury high-rise construction boom, where developers are competing to build the tallest residential towers with the most technically complex facades in the southeastern U.S.
